Korzec

Korzec (Korets in Hebrew) was a notable Hasidic centre thanks to Rabbi Pinhas of Koretz, one of the direct disciples of the Baal Shem Tov, who taught there in the 18th century. The Jewish community of Volhynia was ancient and influential there. During the Shoah, it was massacred; a great number of Jews were killed in actions carried out by the Nazis in 1942.
