Hrubieszów, ville de la région de Lublin proche de la frontière ukrainienne, possédait une communauté juive ancienne, attestée dès le XVIe siècle. Au XIXe siècle, les Juifs représentaient une forte proportion de la population et dominaient le commerce local. Lors de la Shoah, la communauté fut liquidée ; ses membres furent déportés vers le camp d'extermination de Sobibor.
