Cité épiscopale de Champagne, Châlons-en-Champagne (anciennement Châlons-sur-Marne) possédait une communauté juive significative aux XIe–XIIIe siècles, bénéficiant du commerce des foires champenoises et produisant des érudits dont les gloses sont conservées. Les Juifs en furent expulsés avec les édits capétiens.
