Castelló d'Empúries, chef-lieu médiéval du comté d'Empúries en Catalogne, abritait une aljama juive active documentée dès le XIIe siècle. La communauté disposait d'une synagogue et d'un cimetière propres ; elle participa à la vie économique et intellectuelle du comté jusqu'aux violences de 1391 et à l'expulsion de 1492.
