Davidson, Benjamin

Orientaliste anglais de naissance juive ; mort en 1871. Il travaillait pour la British Society for the Propagation of the Gospel Among the Jews, et quand cette institution fonda à Londres (1847) un collège destiné à la formation de ses missionnaires, il fut nommé principal. Il est l'auteur d'une « Analytical Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon », de « Syriac Reading Lessons, with Analysis » et de « Chaldee Reading Lessons ». Il aida à l'édition de la « Englishman's Hebrew and Chaldee Concordance ». Son œuvre majeure, cependant, fut posthume — une « Concordance of the Hebrew and Chaldee Scriptures », Londres, 1876.
