La Congregation Mickve Israel de Savannah, en Géorgie, est la troisième plus ancienne congrégation juive des États-Unis, fondée en 1733, et détentrice de la plus ancienne Torah conservée sur le sol américain. Elle a entretenu des liens avec les pères fondateurs, notamment par la lettre adressée en 1790 par George Washington en réponse à une lettre de son président Levi Sheftall saluant la liberté de culte garantie par la nouvelle nation. En 2026, elle a ouvert l'exposition « Forging Our Sacred Liberty » retraçant comment la jeune colonie de Géorgie offrit un refuge aux juifs et à d'autres minorités religieuses persécutées en Europe.
