The Shoah (1939–1945)
Roundup of children's homes
20-24 juill. 1944·Paris (maisons d'enfants)
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The children's homes of the Paris region were emptied and their residents taken to Drancy.
During the months of July, the German police in Paris arranged for the arrest of the children sheltered in the homes of the Union générale des israélites de France, in Neuilly, Montreuil, Saint-Mandé, La Varenne, and Louveciennes. The children and their educators were taken to Drancy and then deported, just days before the Liberation of the capital. Most of these children had been orphaned by the roundups of the two preceding years.
