The ghetto is liquidated in two days: some are sent to Płaszów, others to Auschwitz, hundreds shot in the streets.

What remained of the closed quarter of Kraków after the deportations of the previous year was liquidated in two days, in mid-March. The quarter had been divided into two sections, one for those who worked and one for the others, which prepared the way for the selection.

Some were taken to the Płaszów camp, which had just been opened on the outskirts of the city on two Jewish cemeteries; the others were sent to Auschwitz. Those who could not walk, the sick and the children found in the cellars, were shot in the streets during the operation.
