The community of Oppeln, in Upper Silesia, was destroyed during the Black Death.
The ducal town, today Opole, appears in the lists of Silesian communities annihilated at that time; the Jewish community of Upper Silesia later reconstituted itself and became, in the modern era, one of the most numerous in the province.
