A small group of community leaders and prominent figures is transferred out of the protectorate to mainland camps; very few return.

A small group of community leaders and prominent figures from Tunis is transferred out of the protectorate to camps on the European continent. The occupier selects high-profile men whose absence weighs on the community left behind and guarantees compliance with requisitions. Very few return. These departures are the only transfers to Europe organized from North Africa; they are enough to connect Tunisia to the geography of the camps, from which the brevity of the occupation had almost spared it.
