21-22 janv. 1943·Apeldoorn
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The patients and staff of the Jewish psychiatric asylum of Apeldoorn are forcibly boarded towards Auschwitz.
The occupier forces the evacuation of the Jewish psychiatric asylum in Apeldoorn, the largest institution of its kind in the Netherlands. The patients are removed at night, loaded into freight wagons, and directed toward Auschwitz, where they are murdered upon arrival; some of the medical staff choose to accompany them. The institution, founded in the previous century and recognized throughout Europe, was emptied in a single night and never reopened.
