Sonderkommando 10a uses gas vans against the Jews of the town and the patients in its hospitals.
Krasnodar, capital of the Kuban, is occupied in the summer. Sonderkommando 10a employs gas vans there — sealed vehicles into which exhaust fumes are redirected — a method already used in Ukraine and intended to spare the executioners the sight of shootings.
Those targeted include the Jews of the city, refugees who had arrived from Ukraine, as well as patients taken from hospitals and a children's clinic. The city lent its name, in July of the following year, to the first public trial held by the Soviet Union against auxiliaries of the occupier.
