Shootings of Toropets
automne 1941·Toropets
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
An old merchant town of the lakes between Velikié Louki and Rjev, Toropets sees the Jews remaining on site arrested in the first days of the occupation, detained then shot on the edge of the town.
Toropets, an ancient merchant city in the lake basin, falls under military administration in the autumn. The Jews there — residents and refugees alike — are counted, marked, and put to forced labor before being led out of the city and shot.
