The community of Starodoub was destroyed during the uprising in Severia.
The land, then Polish, subsequently passed to Muscovy, whose tsars admitted no Jews on their territory; there was therefore no longer a community in Starodoub before the partitions of Poland, at the end of the eighteenth century.
