Jews from the Netherlands are interned at Amersfoort camp before being handed over to Westerbork or Mauthausen.
The Amersfoort camp, opened by the German security police in the center of the Netherlands, served as a place of detention and transit. Jews were held there alongside resistance members, hostages, and forced laborers, subjected to a regime of labor and abuse whose severity was known throughout the country. Jewish detainees were treated separately and subjected to particular brutalities before being sent back to Westerbork or transferred directly to Mauthausen.
