the Jewish quarter attacked
The Jewish community of Saragosse, one of the most important in the Crown of Aragon, was attacked during the Black Death.
It survived that particular wave and remained, until the upheavals at the end of the following century, a center of scholarship and royal finance. It was from Saragosse, however, that one of the first severe applications of the Castilian-Aragonese Inquisition departed, following the assassination of the inquisitor Pedro de Arbués.
