The Jewish quarter of Teruel, on the Aragonese frontier, was attacked during the Black Death.
The towns of this march had been settled with Jews by the kings of Aragon to hold the land recovered from the Muslims; their privileges there were extensive, and it was this that marked them out to the rioters when the plague came.
