The communities of Aragon assembled at Saragosse, after the massacres of the Black Death, to obtain guarantees from the king and to organize their common defense.
They demanded that accusations of ritual murder and host desecration be tried only by the king himself, that rioters be prosecuted, and that a permanent representative defend their interests at court. This is one of the first acts of collective political organization in Spanish Judaism.
