the Jewish quarter attacked

The Jewish quarter of Huesca, in upper Aragon, was attacked during the Black Death.

It housed a Talmudic school and one of the oldest synagogues in the kingdom. The community recovered and only disappeared with the general expulsion from Spain.

The Jewish quarter occupied the upper district, near the castle; its houses were redistributed by the council after the unrest, and the street names still bear traces of this.
