Plus ancienne institution d'enseignement supérieur d'Israël, fondée en 1906 par le sculpteur Boris Schatz à la suite d'une résolution du septième Congrès sioniste. Du nom du Bezalel biblique, elle visait à créer un style artistique sioniste mêlant traditions juives, orientales et européennes. Devenue institution publique en 1969, c'est l'académie nationale des arts et du design.
