Figure de l'intelligentsia moderniste juive tunisienne ; il fonde le journal « La Justice » et mène, à partir de 1905, la campagne pour l'extension aux Juifs de Tunisie des droits accordés aux Juifs d'Algérie. Auteur de la brochure « L'Extension de la juridiction et de la nationalité françaises en Tunisie » (1905).
