Asher ben Levi

Enfant légendaire converti au christianisme puis martyr, né de parents juifs, il aurait vécu à la fin du quatrième siècle à Sinjar, entre Nisibe et Mossoul en Mésopotamie. Rejeté par ses camarades tant qu'il restait juif, il se serait fait baptiser par des enfants chrétiens du village, avant d'être tué par son propre père lorsque sa conversion fut découverte. Une église fut ensuite bâtie sur le lieu de sa mort.

• Assemani (Bibliotheca Orientalis, III. i. 285) mentions an Arabic account of Asher's conversion
