The Shoah (1939–1945)
Roundups of Orleans
1942·Orléans
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Orleans community is arrested and taken to the camps of the Loiret.
During the summer, the French police arrested Jews from the département in Orléans and in the Loiret, while the camps at Pithiviers and Beaune-la-Rolande, located within the same jurisdiction, served as transit points for families rounded up in Paris. The convoys departed directly from these two camps to Upper Silesia, bypassing Drancy, throughout the summer. It was from the Loiret that the trains departed carrying children separated from their mothers, deported alone.
