A former royal capital of the Val de Loire, Orléans was home to an important medieval Jewish community documented since the Carolingian era. The Jews of Orléans were active in the wine trade and moneylending; the city was also a center of rabbinical studies before the successive expulsions.

This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document Orléans give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
