The Shoah (1939–1945)
Deportation of the Olomouc Community
juin 1942·Olomouc
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Jews of Olomouc and Central Moravia were summoned and then taken to Theresienstadt; most left from there toward the ghettos and camps of the east.
The community of Olomouc is deported to Theresienstadt during the summer, after the Jews from the small towns of central Moravia have been concentrated there. The city's synagogue had already been burned down in the aftermath of the occupation. The deportees from Olomouc are for the most part dispatched in the following months to the death centers of occupied Poland. The university and the city's institutions take over the abandoned property.
