The Shoah (1939–1945)
Liquidation of the Miory Ghetto
juin 1942·Miory
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
Small town in the lakes of northern Belarus, Miory sees its enclosed quarter liquidated in a day; those locked in attempt to break through the cordon and are shot in the flight.
Miory, on the edge of its lake, was home to a community of merchants and artisans. It was sealed off, subjected to requisitions, then led to a pit dug near the railway line and shot during the summer, in the course of the campaign that emptied the towns of the region.
