Provisional administrators are appointed to enterprises and assets inventoried the previous year; shops and workshops change hands in the cities of the protectorate.
The assets catalogued are placed under provisional administration: managers appointed by the authorities take over Jewish-owned businesses, workshops, and shops in Morocco, with the mandate to transfer them to buyers deemed acceptable. Trading houses in Casablanca, Fès, and Rabat change hands at prices bearing no relation to their actual value. The procedure presents itself as lawful and keeps official records; within a few months, it ruins families that have been established in commerce for generations.
