Foreign Jews from Auvergne are arrested and transported to Drancy.
At the end of August, the prefecture of Puy-de-Dôme ordered the arrest of foreign Jews in the department under the terms of the roundups agreed to by Vichy. The families were gathered in Clermont-Ferrand and then transported to Drancy via Lyon. The city was home to a Jewish population greatly increased by the exodus and by the relocation of the university of Strasbourg, several of whose members were among those arrested.
