The Shoah (1939–1945)
Kristallnacht in Nuremberg
9-10 nov. 1938·Nuremberg
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The violence of Nuremberg follows the destruction of the Great Synagogue, demolished on the order of the regional chief a few months earlier.
In Nuremberg, where the laws stripping Jews of citizenship had been proclaimed just a few years earlier, the main synagogue had been demolished even before the night of violence. The remaining houses of worship were set ablaze, businesses looted, and men rounded up and sent to Dachau. The Franconian community was stripped of its last possessions in the months that followed.
