After the capture of Buda, the Jews of the city were taken by the Ottomans to other parts of the Empire.
Sultan Suleiman had the Jewish inhabitants of the Hungarian capital transported to Constantinople, Salonique, and the cities of the Balkans, as he did with the useful populations of conquered lands. This was not destruction but forced displacement; their descendants formed a congregation in Constantinople that bore the name of Buda.
