Militiamen of the Arrow Cross lead Jews to the quays, tie them in groups and shoot them into the river.
After the Arrow Cross coup in the autumn, the party's militia took charge of the persecution of the Jews of Budapest, who had until then remained in marked houses and in two enclosed neighborhoods.
During the winter of the siege, its militiamen led residents away in small groups to the banks of the Danube, had them bound together at the wrists, and shot them at the water's edge, the river carrying away the bodies. The memorial of cast-iron shoes, installed on the Pest embankment, commemorates these executions.
