Pope Eugene IV renewed against the Jews the laws of separation and forbade them to study the Talmud.

The bull took up the decisions of the Council of Basel and extended them to Italy and Spain: prohibition of public office, of testifying against a Christian, of building new synagogues. It was little enforced in the Papal States themselves, where the popes continued to protect the Jews of Rome, but it served as an argument for the observant preachers who were then obtaining expulsions from Italian cities.
