The city council of Augsburg expelled its Jews.

The imperial city of Swabia was one of the wealthiest in Germany, and its Christian bankers no longer needed Jewish moneylenders, whose competition was an obstacle; the expulsion was decided by the council, without riot or accusation. The Jews of Augsburg moved into the small towns of Swabia, where petty lords received them in exchange for a fee.
