Né en 1939, pilote de chasse de l'armée de l'air israélienne, capturé pendant la guerre d'usure et détenu trois ans et demi dans une prison égyptienne. Avec trois codétenus, il y dirige la traduction en hébreu du Hobbit de Tolkien (« la traduction des pilotes »), publiée en 1977 par Zmora Bitan et longtemps tenue pour l'une des meilleures. Après sa libération, il commande la base aérienne de Ramat David.
