משה אלשיך
געגנט: Andrinople (naissance), Salonique, puis Safed (Galilée)

Fils de Ḥayyim Alshich, il étudia à Salonique auprès de Joseph Taitatzak et de Joseph Karo, qu'il suivit à Safed. Il y fut juge (dayyan) et forma des disciples de premier plan comme Ḥayyim Vital. Ses commentaires homilétiques sur la Bible lui valurent une grande renommée parmi les grands exégètes.
