Membre actif de la communauté juive du Caire (secrétaire de la taxe communale de 1938 à 1942), il écrivit dès les années 1930 pour plusieurs journaux et dirigea la revue mensuelle Kadima. Il publia deux monographies historiques de référence sur le passé juif d'Égypte, mêlant motifs bibliques et histoire pharaonique dans une lecture sioniste.
