Né à Fès et établi en France, docteur en études hébraïques (Paris 8, 1987), il a dirigé le Département d'études hébraïques et juives de l'INALCO. Spécialiste de la littérature hébraïque et judéo-arabe et du patrimoine culturel des Juifs du Maroc, il a notamment édité l'ouvrage collectif « Présence juive au Maghreb. Hommage à Haïm Zafrani » (avec Nicole S. Serfaty).
