Né à Manchester dans une famille juive d'origine lituanienne. Beau-frère et associé de Simon Marks, il codirigea le développement de Marks & Spencer. À la mort de son fils Daniel (17 ans), il dota en 1934 le Daniel Sieff Research Institute de Rehovot, créé par Chaim Weizmann, rebaptisé Weizmann Institute of Science en 1949.
