געגנט: Oran (naissance), Paris
Née à Oran (Algérie française) de parents juifs — père médecin juif né à Oran, mère juive allemande d'Osnabrück. Cofondatrice en 1969 du Centre universitaire de Vincennes (université Paris VIII) où elle crée le premier centre d'études féminines d'une université européenne. Théoricienne de l'« écriture féminine », elle obtient dès 1969 le prix Médicis pour son premier récit Dedans, et a publié plus de soixante-dix livres (théâtre, théorie, fiction poétique).
