Journaliste ottoman en judéo-espagnol, rédacteur et directeur d'El Tiempo, principal périodique ladino de l'Empire ottoman (paru de 1872 à 1930, tirage jusqu'à 10 000 exemplaires). Vecteur de modernité et de laïcité dans la communauté judéo-turque, il mena une lutte contre le fanatisme et défendit des positions controversées (anti-sionistes, ottomanistes). Il se retira en France vers 1930.
