Banquier d'affaires né à Marmoutier en Alsace. Animé d'un idéal de paix universelle, il lança en 1909 les 'Archives de la Planète', vaste collection d'autochromes (photographies couleur sur plaques de verre) et de films tournés dans une soixantaine de pays jusqu'en 1931 (~72 000 autochromes). Ruiné par la crise des années 1930, il mourut à Boulogne-Billancourt en 1940.
