Attack on Mifgash Israel restaurant

25 août 1982·Berlin

Toll
1

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

The restaurant Mifgash Israel, in the center of West Berlin, was one of the rare Israeli establishments in the city and a meeting place for the small Jewish community reconstituted after the war.

A bomb explodes there at the end of August. A child of a few months, seated in a pram, is killed; some twenty people are wounded, several of them seriously. The establishment is destroyed.

Committed in the city from which the decision to exterminate the Jews of Europe had originated, this attack had a particular resonance in Germany. It belongs to the same European wave as the attacks in Bruxelles and Paris, carried out that same summer.
