After the Slovak national uprising, German troops occupy the country and resume the convoys interrupted in 1942.

The deportations from Slovakia, interrupted in 1942 under pressure from the Churches, Vatican diplomacy, and the clandestine working group in Bratislava, resumed in the autumn of 1944. The Slovak National Uprising triggered the occupation of the country by German troops, who brought with them an Einsatzkommando tasked with hunting down Jews in hiding, and the convoys set off again toward Auschwitz and Sachsenhausen until March 1945.

The manhunts took place in the mountains and villages where the Jewish population had dispersed during the two years of reprieve, and they were accompanied by on-the-spot shootings, notably at Kremnička and Nemecká. The second act of the Slovak persecution thus claimed a large share of those whom the first had spared.
