Deportation of Jews from Trebišov

1942·Trebišov

Toll
bilan non établi

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

A town in the eastern plain, Trebišov saw its community assembled and driven to the country's transit camps, from which convoys departed in spring and summer.

Trebišov, at the heart of the Zemplín plain, sustained a community that lived from the trade in grain, timber, and produce from the land, with its synagogue, its school, and its mutual aid societies. The laws of the Slovak State had already stripped families of their possessions when spring brought the convoys: the Jews of the town and the villages of the district were gathered together, led to transit camps, then handed over at the northern border. The trains departed for the killing centers of the General Government. The community of Trebišov disappeared.
