The La Lande camp in Touraine gathers the Jews of the region before their transfer to Drancy.
During the summer, the German police and the French police arrested foreign Jews in Tours and throughout Indre-et-Loire. Those apprehended were interned at La Lande, near Monts, then transferred to Drancy. The La Lande camp had originally been opened for nomads and subsequently served as a transit camp for the region. Touraine was divided by the demarcation line, and families were arrested there while attempting to cross it.
