The Jews of the city are arrested, some warned in time managing to flee.
In mid-July, German and French police arrested foreign Jews in Nancy who were registered in the prefectural files. Several officers from the central police station warned families the day before, allowing a large number of them to leave their homes in time. Those apprehended were sent to Drancy via the Écrouves camp. Meurthe-et-Moselle was in the occupied zone and administered from Nancy with regard to the files.
