The Jews sheltered in Indre are arrested and transported to the Paris region.
At the end of August, the prefecture of Indre ordered the arrest of foreign Jews in Châteauroux and throughout the department, under the terms of the deportation quotas conceded by Vichy. The families were gathered and then transported to Drancy. Berry straddled the demarcation line, and its unoccupied portion had welcomed refugees from the North and East following the exodus.
