businesses, apartments and accounts confiscated under the direction of Adolf Eichmann's office
After the Anschluss, the Aryanization of Jewish property was carried out in Austria under the direction of Adolf Eichmann's bureau: businesses, apartments, and bank accounts were confiscated.
Austria served as a laboratory. What had taken place in Germany in stages over several years was applied there within a few months, and the Viennese bureau developed the administrative chain — dispossession first, forced emigration next — that would subsequently be transposed to the entire Reich. It was there that the apparatus was formed that would later organize deportation.
