The community of Salzburg was destroyed during the Black Death.
The archbishop, as sovereign prince, held the Jews against dues; this revenue disappeared with them. Salzburg's Jewish community reconstituted itself afterward, then was expelled definitively from the principality at the end of the fifteenth century, and the city remained without Jews until the nineteenth.
