The Shoah (1939–1945)
Kristallnacht in Salzbourg
9-10 nov. 1938·Salzbourg
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Salzbourg synagogue is devastated and the small community scattered; its last members leave the town in the following months.
In Salzbourg, the community's prayer hall is ransacked and Jewish businesses destroyed during the night following the call. The men are arrested and taken to the nearby camp. The community, small and ancient, will not recover from that night: families leave the city in the following months, and the community's assets are confiscated.
